Dee Goes to the Loretta Lynn Concert

Dee was very excited about her first outing to see Loretta Lynn in Macon with her friends BJ, JeRie and Angel.  She donned her seatbelt as she took her seat in Angel's SUV.

JeRie reminded her that she should stow her luggage under the seat in front of her.  It was difficult for her to find room under the seat with all of Jake and Anna's toys, but with her experience as a flight attendant, she was able to get it stowed before the SUV left the parking lot.

Since the drive did not include a meal, the group decided to made a stopover for dinner at Buckner's in Jackson, Georgia.  Look closely to see Dee sitting next to JeRie while we waited outside the restaurant.

Dee, BJ, JeRie and Angel were all excited about the prospect of some Sweet Tea and Home Cooking!

In a snap of her fingers, Dee was surrounded by more delicious food than she had ever dreamed of!  How would she ever be able to fit into her uniform after eating all of this?  She would just have to unbutton her skirt and go for it.  Thank goodness the new uniform jacket hid the fact that she had unbuttoned her skirt!

Dee made friends with one of the chef's on her way out, but he made a snide remark about holding her tongue, so she lost interest quickly. 070309 (12) Buckners Restaurant Dee.JPG (48947 bytes)

When we got to the concert, Dee wanted to get on Loretta's bus, but BJ thought we should go inside the theater and find our seats.   Dee was at first pleased with her seat on the 11th row of the Macon City Auditorium.  She settled in to listen to the backup band, the Coal Miners.  She soon realized that she had been seated behind the jolly green GIANT!  Her view of Loretta would be completely obscured by the man's huge head!

Dee enjoyed the opening act and was able to peek around Jolly Green's head to see Loretta's twin daughters' Patsy and Peggy perform.   She was completely enthralled when Loretta herself came out dressed like Glenda the Good Witch.  Dee wanted to go up on stage with Loretta, but so many other fans were crowding the stage, she was afraid she would get stepped on.

Dee thought Loretta put on an excellent concert, even though there were a few missteps, like when Loretta sang "Fist City" twice and switched from "One's On The Way" to "The Pill" in mid-song.   After the concert, Dee posed with a statue in downtown Macon.

What trip is complete without a stop at the Cracker Barrell?  Dee, like the other patrons, enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs out front and a challenging game of checkers before going inside.

Dee really enjoyed shopping in the Cracker Barrell.   She found lots of items that interested her.

Before we left Macon, Dee performed her Jet Recurrent Training and made sure that we all knew where the fire extinguishers were located and tha smoking was not allowed on this or any other trips in Angel's CRV!
