Transportation Connections

Malpensa Airport to Monterosso:

·         Malpensa Express Train to Cadorna Stop  

o    Train/Metro is slightly more expensive than the bus, but somewhat faster

·         Metro 5 stops to Milan Centrale

·         Trenitalia to Monterosso


Ferry Corsorzio Marittiomo Turistico:


·         1 day tour:

o    10:30AM Ferry Monterosso to Manarola, walk to Riomaggiore

o    12:50PM Ferry to Portovenere, have lunch

o    2:30PM Three Island Tour, return to Portovenere & hike to the castle

o    5:00PM Ferry back to Monterosso


Monterosso to Pisa Airport:

·         Trenitalia to Pisa Airport

o    Connection in Pisa Centrale (look for airport signs)

·         Pizzeria La Smorfia – near Marina Hotel - decent pizza

·         La Venta, via XX Settembre, 32 - incredible pear filled ravioli followed by delicious chocolate soufflé

·         Ristorante L'Ancora Della Tortuga – built into the side of the hill between old and new town.  Ask for an outside table against the wall when you reserve.  Lots of seafood.  Decent Pasta.  You are paying for the view.

·         Ristorante Pizzeria La Taverna – excellent pizza in new town



·         Bar Gelateria Doria – along the front street - decent Panini



·          Bar Nadia - Sandwiches & Burgers on the Beach



·         Da Piva Trattoria – follow the hiking trail from Corniglia into town – it is just off the path - decent pasta - owner can be persuaded to play guitar & sing  



·         Hotel Porto Roca - high above Monterosso - great place for a glass of wine & watch the sunset

·         Nuovo Eden - On the beach in new section – cheap wine, decent food

·         Lemon Garden - atop the Marina Albergo - swings & lounges - great place to read in the afternoon



·         Al Caltello Restaurant - we didn't get to try the food.  The wine was good – played cards while it rained.


Cinque Terre

·         Bar Il Gabbiano - on the trail halfway between Corniglia and Vernazza - a GREAT stop on a rainy day!



·         Bar/Cafe A Pie De Ma Bar & Vini - perch out over the water & watch divers off of nearby rocks.

·         Hiking - (sometimes steep) paths lead from down to town 

                o    Cinque Terre National Park Pass required - €5/day or multi-day including train available
